Lindback, a native of Gavle, Sweden, was selected by the Nashville Predators in the seventh round (No. 207) of the 2008 NHL Draft.
He spent one season with Timra in the Swedish Hockey League before coming to North America in 2010-11. Lindback made his NHL debut on Oct. 9, 2010, in relief of Pekka Rinne, then got his first NHL win four days later, making 23 saves in a 3-2 victory against the Chicago Blackhawks. His first NHL shutout came Dec. 13, 2010, against the Florida Panthers, and shut out the New York Islanders two days later. Lindback finished his rookie season 11-5-2 with a 2.60 goals-against average, .915 save percentage and two shutouts in 22 games (18 starts).
He remained Nashville's backup in 2011-12 before he was traded with forward Kyle Wilson and a seventh-round pick in the 2012 NHL Draft to the Tampa Bay Lightning for goalie Sebastien Caron and three draft picks. Lindback went 18-22-3 in two seasons with the Lightning before signing a one-year contract with the Dallas Stars on July 1, 2014. He played 10 games with the Stars before he was traded with a draft pick to the Buffalo Sabres for goalie Jhonas Enroth.
Lindback joined his fifth team in five seasons when he signed a one-year contract with the Arizona Coyotes on July 1, 2015. He went 5-7-1 with a 3.11 GAA and .894 save percentage with Arizona. His last game came on Feb. 5, 2016, a 5-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks.
He began the 2016-17 season with Ontario in the American Hockey League but was released and signed with Rogle in the Swedish Hockey League. Lindback signed a one-year, two-way contract with Nashville on July 1, 2017, but spent all of the 2017-18 season with Milwaukee in the AHL.
