Justus Annunen was traded to the Nashville Predators by the Colorado Avalanche, with a sixth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, for Scott Wedgewood on Nov. 30, 2024. He had played the previous three seasons for Colorado in the American Hockey Lague, where he went 60-29-19. He also played four seasons in Finland's Liiga and had the league's best goals-against average (1.77) and save percentage (.929) in 2019-20.
Internationally, the Kempele, Finland, native won gold at the 2018 U-18 World Championship – where he went 6-0-0. Annunen was chosen by the Avalanche in the third round (No. 64) of the 2018 NHL Draft after he was ranked as the No. 4 International goalie by NHL Central Scouting on the bureau's final list. He represented his country at the 2017 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament and the 2018 IIHF U18 World Championship, where he helped Finland to a gold medal by going 6-0 with a 2.00 GAA, .914 save percentage and one shutout.
