Hofer decided to stay with the St. Louis Blues, the team that chose him in the fourth round (No. 107) of the 2018 NHL Draft, by signing a two-year, $6.8 million contract (average annual value of $3.4 million) June 28, 2025, in lieu of becoming a restricted free agent. He finished a two-year contract by going 16-8-3 with a 2.64 goals-against average, .904 save percentage and one shutout in 31 regular-season games (28 starts). His 2.65 GAA and .909 save percentage over the two previous seasons ranked eighth and 12th, respectively, in the League (minimum 60 games).
Hofer signed his entry-level contract with the Blues on March 21, 2019, after playing for Swift Current and Portland in the Western Hockey League. He began his junior career with Swift Current in 2017-18, and went 8-3-1 with a 2.61 GAA and .914 save percentage to help the Broncos win the WHL championship.
