Ty Dellandrea's tenure with the Dallas Stars organization ended when he was traded to the San Jose Sharks on June 19, 2024, for a fourth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft. Two weeks later, the Stars' first-round pick (No. 13) in the 2018 NHL Draft signed a two-year, $2.6 million contract with the Sharks.
The Sharks then rewarded Dellandrea with a two-year, $3.25 million contract (average annual value of $1.625 million) he signed March 13, 2026.
Dellandrea helped Dallas reach the Western Conference Final in consecutive seasons. He played all 82 regular-season games in 2022-23 and was fifth on the Stars in short-handed time on ice (78:19) and sixth among forwards in hits (63) the following season.
Before turning pro, Dellandrea played four seasons for Flint of the Ontario Hockey League, was an assistant captain in 2017-18 and captain beginning in 2018-19. He had 216 points (94 goals, 122 assists) in 231 games and was awarded the OHL Commitment Award, given to "the OHL team captain that best exemplifies leadership on and off the ice, with a passion and dedication to the game of hockey and his community."
Dellandrea played six games for JYP in SM-liiga, Finland's top men's professional hockey league, in 2020-21 and won gold with Canada at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship.
