The third-round pick (No. 85) by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2018 NHL Draft made 46 saves in a 4-3 win against the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place on Dec. 17, 2022, stealing the show in his sixth NHL start and falling three saves from Frederik Andersen's team record for most by a rookie in team history. Dostal made 22 saves in the third period, only one rookie goalie made more (Andersen, 24 on March 2, 2014) in one period for the Ducks.
Dostal signed a five-year contract with the Ducks on July 17, 2025. He was one of two NHL goalies 24 and under in 2024-25 with at least 20 wins (Dustin Wolf, Calgary Flames) and became the seventh Anaheim goalie to reach the mark in one season, the third youngest in Ducks history at the time of win No. 20 (24 years, 265 days).
Dostal made 33 saves in a 4-3 shootout victory against the Detroit Red Wings at Honda Center on Jan. 9, 2022, setting a Ducks record for most saves by a goalie in his NHL debut. He played four NHL games that season, going 1-2-0 with a 2.98 goals-against average and .907 save percentage, and finished his fourth professional season and second with San Diego of the American Hockey League with team rookie goalie records for games (40), GAA (2.60), minutes (2,189) and shutouts (two). He scored the first goal by a goalie in the history of the Ducks organization while making an AHL career-high 51 saves against Colorado on March 2, 2022.
Dostal split the 2020-21 season with Ilves in Liiga, the top pro league in Finland, and the AHL, combining to go 25-9-1 with a 2.48 GAA and .923 save percentage. He won the Urpo Ylonen Award given to the best goalie in Liiga in 2019-20 after leading the league in wins (27) and ranking second in GAA (1.78) and third in save percentage (.928). He signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Ducks on May 13, 2019.
