Veleno's road to the NHL began when he signed his entry level contract with the Detroit Red Wings on May 1, 2019, after two seasons with Drummondville of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. His first two was with Saint John, where he won a league championship in 2016-17.
Veleno was selected by the Detroit Red Wings with the No. 30 pick in the 2018 NHL Draft, where he played three full seasons before getting traded to the Chicago Blackhawks on March 7, 2025. He had seven points (three goals, four assists) in 18 games with the Blackhawks and then was traded to the Seattle Kraken on June 21, 2025.
The Montreal native represented Canada at several tournaments. Veleno won gold at the 2023 IIHF World Championship, 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship and 2017 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament. He also played at the 2019 IIHF World Junior Championship, 2018 IIHF World Under-18 Championship, 2016 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament and 2015 World Under-17 Challenge.
