McLeod settled into his NHL home in upstate New York when he signed a four-year, $20 million contract with the Buffalo Sabres on July 1, 2025, after setting what was NHL career highs in points (53), goals (20), assists (33), plus/minus (plus-13) and average ice time per game (16:50). He also led Sabres forwards with a 52.3 percent success rate on face-offs and 182:59 of short-handed ice time.
The second-round pick (No. 40) of the Edmonton Oilers was traded to Buffalo on July 5, 2024. He Mississauga of the Ontario Hockey League with 44 assists in 2017-18 and joined the Condors for the 2019 Calder Cup Playoffs and had three assists in five games, including winning the face-off that led to Josh Currie's double-overtime goal in Game 5 of the Pacific Division Finals
His brother, Michael McLeod, was chosen by the New Jersey Devils in the first round (No. 12) of the 2016 NHL Draft.
