Jeremy Swayman has emerged to become a bona fide starting goalie in the NHL. He played 37 games (33 starts) with the Bruins during the 2022-23 season, going 24-6-4 with a 2.27 goals-against average and .920 save percentage to help secure the Jennings Trophy with Vezina Trophy winner Linus Ullmark. He then went 25-10-8 with a 2.53 GAA, .916 save percentage and three shutouts in 2023-24 and 6-6 with a 2.15 GAA and .933 save percentage in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, including 11 straight starts.

Swayman signed an eight-year, $66 million contract with the Bruins on Oct. 6, 2024. His role as a No. 1 goalie for the first time was secured when Boston traded Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators on June 24 of that year. He was on the United States roster for the 4 Nations Face-Off, made 25 saves to help the U.S. defeat Switzerland 1-0 in overtime and win the 2025 IIHF World Championship, its first tournament victory since 1933, and won gold with Team USA at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, the country's first in men's Olympic hockey since the 1980 Lake Placid Games. He finished the 2025-26 season with an NHL career-high 31 wins and League-high 38 starts with at least a .900 save percentage to earn his first nomination for the Vezina Trophy.

A fourth-round pick (No. 111) in the 2017 NHL Draft, Swayman went 7-3-0 with a 1.50 GAA and .945 save percentage in 10 games as a rookie in 2020-21 to take over the backup role from Jaroslav Halak. He made his Stanley Cup Playoff debut when he relieved Tuukka Rask to start the third period and made two saves in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Second Round against the New York Islanders on June 7, 2021.

Swayman started at the University of Maine for three seasons. He had a 2.07 GAA and .939 save percentage in 34 games as a junior in 2019-20 to win Hockey East Player of the Year award and the Mike Richter Award as the best NCAA Division I goalie, and he was a top-three finalist for the Hobey Baker Award given to the top men's player in NCAA Division I ice hockey.
