Perbix became a regular with the Tampa Bay Lightning during the 2022-23 season and signed a two-year, $2.25 million contract Jan. 2, 2023. The defenseman was chosen in the sixth round (No. 169) of the 2017 NHL Draft and his played his 200th NHL game against the Florida Panthers on March 30, 2025, making him the sixth in Lightning history at his position to reach the milestone. Perbix's six goals tied Darren Raddysh for second among Tampa Bay defensemen behind Victor Hedman (15). He had 50 hits, third-most at his position, while his 66 blocked shots ranked sixth and his 21 takeaways fourth.

Perbix left the Lightning to sign a two-year, $5.5 million contract with the Nashville Predators on July 1, 2025.

Perbix played four seasons at St. Cloud State and set NCAA career highs in goals (six), assists (25) and points (31) as a senior. Among his collegiate accolades, Perbix was named second team All-NCHC, a finalist for NCHC Offensive Defenseman of the Year in 2021, selected for the NCAA Northeast Region All-Tournament team following the 2021 postseason and a 2019 All-NCHC rookie team honoree.

Perbix played for the United States at the 2022 Beijing Olympics, where he had one assist in four games.
