Robertson committed to the Dallas Stars when he signed a four-year, $31 million contract as a restricted free agent Oct. 6, 2022. He had three assists in a 5-2 win against the St. Louis Blues on April 12, 2023, to give him 109 points, the most in a season age 23 or younger among United States-born players. He also passed Dino Ciccarelli for second-most points in a season in Dallas/Minnesota North Stars history behind Bobby Smith (114 in 1981-82).
The previous season. Robertson led the Stars in goals (41), power-play goals (13), shots on goal (220) and shooting percentage (18.6 percent), and was second with 79 points (41 goals, 38 assists) behind Joe Pavelski (81 points) in 74 games. He earned recognition early in the 2022-23 season when he was named the NHL First Star for the week ending Nov. 6 after getting eight points (four goals, four assists). He had an NHL personal-best 18-game point streak (34 points; 21 goals, 13 assists) from Oct. 27 to Dec. 4, two from the Stars/Minnesota North Stars record set by Brian Bellows from Jan. 11 to Feb. 21, 1986.
Robertson was the runner-up to Minnesota Wild forward Kirill Kaprizov in voting for the 2021 Calder Trophy awarded to the NHL rookie of the year, when he had 45 points (17 goals, 28 assists) in 51 games. He was chosen by the Dallas Stars in the second round (No. 39) of the 2017 NHL Draft. He made his NHL debut Feb. 13, 2020, and had an assist on the game-winning goal in the Stars' 3-2 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs. He led all NHL rookies in 2020-21 in assists (28) and even-strength points (39), was tied with Winnipeg Jets defenseman Logan Stanley for first in plus/minus (plus-13), tied with Ottawa Senators forward Josh Norris for second in goals (17) and second in points (45) in 51 games. He reached 30 points in 37 games, the fastest by any Stars rookie since the team moved from Minnesota to Dallas in 1993.
Robertson is of Filipino descent through his mother, Mercedes, who was born in Manila, and Scottish from his father, Hugh. His younger brother, Nicholas Robertson, was a second-round pick (No. 53) of the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2019 NHL Draft. He became the second Filipino American to play in the NHL, following Tim Stapleton, who made his debut with the Maple Leafs in 2008-09. He also is one four players of Filipino descent to play in the League, with his brother, Stapleton and Wild defenseman Matt Dumba.
Jason Robertson scored three goals in the span of 8:40 in the second period to help the Stars to a 4-3 win at the New York Islanders on Feb. 23, 2025, his fourth hat trick in the NHL. Nicholas Robertson scored twice for the Maple Leafs in a 5-2 victory at the Chicago Blackhawks, making them the first set of brothers to score multiple goals on the same day since Pavel and Valeri Bure on March 1, 2000.
Jason's seven-game goal streak from Nov. 11-25, 2025, was the longest since the Stars franchise relocated to Dallas in 1993. He had an assist in a 6-3 loss to the Utah Mammoth on March 16, 2026, to become the first player in Stars/North Stars history with four consecutive seasons of at least 80 points. Mike Modano (eight) is the only player in the history of the franchise with more.
