Owen Tippett was considered one of the top forwards available for the 2017 NHL Draft when the Florida Panthers selected him with the No. 10 pick. He agreed to a three-year, entry-level contract July 19, 2017.
Tippett made his NHL debut Oct. 17, 2017, but after nine games was returned to Mississauga of the Ontario Hockey League.
He played in the OHL for Mississauga and Saginaw in 2018-19, and for Springfield of the American Hockey League in 2019-20.
In 2020-21, Tippett scored 18 points (seven goals, 11 assists) in 45 games for the Panthers. He led Florida rookies in goals, assists and points. He had at least one point in eight of 13 March games, including a four-game streak (three goals, one assist) from March 9-15. He played on Florida's second line with Jonathan Huberdeau and Sam Bennett, and scored six points (two goals, four assists) during the Panthers' season-ending six-game winning streak to help Florida (37-14-5) finish second in the Discover Central Division and with the best points percentage (.705) in its history.
Tippett scored four points (one goal, three assists) in the Stanley Cup First Round, a six-game loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. He tied Radek Dvorak for the second-most points by a Panthers rookie during one postseason.
Tippett signed a two-year contract (average annual value $1.5 million) with the Philadelphia Flyers on July 29, 2022. He was acquired in the trade that sent Flyers captain Claude Giroux to the Panthers. He then earned an eight-year, $49.6 million contract with the Flyers that he signed Jan. 26, 2024, beginning with the 2024-25 season.
