The Woodbridge, Ontario native continues to develop into an all-around defenseman for the Montreal Canadiens.
Mete had seven assists and a plus-5 rating in 49 games as a rookie for the Canadiens in 2017-18.
In 2018-19, he had 13 assists and was plus-17 in 71 games.
Mete scored his first NHL goal Oct. 17, 2019 in a 4-0 victory against the Minnesota Wild.
He was selected by the Canadiens in the fourth round (No. 100) in the 2016 NHL Draft after he had 38 points (eight goals, 30 assists) for London of the Ontario Hockey League, helping the team win the 2016 Memorial Cup.
Mete signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Canadiens on March 27, 2017.
He made the team out of training camp as a 19-year-old and made his NHL debut Oct. 5, 2017 in a 3-2 shootout win against the Buffalo Sabres. He recorded his first NHL point with an assist in a 5-2 loss to the San Jose Sharks on Oct. 17 but missed the final month of his rookie season because of a hand injury sustained in a 6-3 win against the New York Islanders on March 2.
Mete had three assists in six games to help Canada win the gold medal at the 2018 IIHF World Junior Championship.
