A smooth skater and a reliable, stay-at-home defensive defender, Dahlbeck was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the third round (No. 79) in the 2011 NHL Draft, but was traded to the Arizona Coyotes on Feb. 28, 2015.

Dahlbeck played three seasons with Linkopings HC in the Swedish Elitserien from 2009-12 and skated for Sweden in the 2011 World Junior Championship. The Blackhawks signed him to an entry-level contract on May 29, 2012, and Dahlbeck made the move to North America.

There's nothing flashy about his game, but he competes hard every night. The 6-foot-3, 207-pound Dahlbeck fit in well with Rockford of the American Hockey League in 2012-13 and he was named the team's most improved player. Dahlbeck was a plus-32 in his first two seasons with Rockford and seemed to blossom in his second season, producing 10 goals and 35 assists in 75 games.

In 2014-15, Dahlbeck began his third season with Rockford but was called up by the Blackhawks and made his NHL debut Dec. 6, 2014, against the Nashville Predators. Five days later, Dahlbeck scored his first NHL goal, against the Boston Bruins.

Dahlbeck played just four games with the Blackhawks before he was traded to the Coyotes, and made his debut with the team on March 3, 2015, against the Anaheim Ducks. He had an assist March 24, 2015, against the Detroit Red Wings, for his first point with the Coyotes.

Picking up his physical game, Dahlbeck had 12 hits in an April 4, 2015 game against the San Jose Sharks. He led the Coyotes with 178 hits in 2015-16, averaging 2.5 hits per game. He was also fourth on the team with 76 blocked shots.

Dahlbeck totaled at least three hits in 10 consecutive games from Nov. 19-Dec. 8, 2015, collecting 48 hits over that span. He put together a three-game point streak from Oct. 22-26, 2015, and posted the first multi-point game of his NHL career, a two-assist effort Jan. 2, 2016, against the Oilers in Edmonton.
