Silayev, chosen No. 10 by the New Jersey Devils in the 2024 NHL Draft, had 11 points (three goals, eight assists) for Torpedo of the Kontinental Hockey League in 2023-24, most by an under-18 player in KHL history to pass Vladimir Tarasenko's 10 for Novosibirsk in 2008-09. He's signed with Torpedo through the 2025-26 season, at which time he'll likely turn professional in North America, and is guided by his coach, Igor Larionov, a Hockey Hall of Famer who played 14 NHL seasons, including 2003-04 with the Devils, and is a three-time Stanley Cup champion with the Detroit Red Wings.
Silayev averaged 14:54 of ice time per game in 2023-24 and was No. 1 on NHL Central Scouting's final ranking of International skaters eligible for the 2024 draft.
