Iginla, a forward and son of Hockey Hall of Fame forward Jarome Iginla, was the No. 6 pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, becoming the Utah Hockey Club's first selection since becoming an NHL franchise June 13, 2024. He signed his three-year, entry-level contact July 11.
He learned many lessons from his father on and off the ice, leading Kelowna of the Western Hockey League with 47 goals in 2023-24 while finishing second with 84 points and 11 power-play goals in 64 games. He also led Kelowna in the WHL playoffs with nine goals and tied for the lead with 15 points in 11 games. His 12 points (six goals, six assists) in seven games at the 2024 IIHF U18 World Junior Championship helped Canada win a gold medal.
The Lake Country, British Columbia, native had 18 points (six goals, 12 assists) in 48 games to help Seattle win the 2023 WHL championship. He played with Utah forward Dylan Guenther and was one of three 16-year-olds on the roster.
