Wood, the No. 15 pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, became the second rookie in Nashville Predators history to have a hat trick, joining Blake Geoffrion (March 20, 2011), in a 6-3 loss at the New York Rangers on Nov. 10, 2025. He was also the first rookie in team history to score multiple power-play goals in the same game.

A native of Lethbridge, Alberta. who grew up in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Wood signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Predators on March 29, 2025, and made his NHL debut April 6 after completing his junior season at the University of Minnesota. He had NCAA career highs of 17 goals and 39 points while helping the Golden Gophers to the first round of the NCAA Tournament, a 5-4 overtime loss to UMass Amherst. He scored his first NHL goal in his 11th game, a 4-1 loss at the Philadelphia Flyers on Oct. 30, 2025.

Wood played two seasons (2020-22) for Victoria of the British Columbia Hockey League, where he was named the league's rookie of the year and received the Brett Hull Trophy after he had 85 points (45 goals, 40 assists). He played for Canada at the 2024 IIHF World Junior Championship, where he had four points (two goals, two assists) in five games. He had 13 points (seven goals, six assists) to help his country win bronze at the 2023 IIHF U-18 World Championship and won gold at the 2022 Hlinka Gretzky Cup.
