Marco Kasper was selected by the Detroit Red Wings with the No. 8 pick in the 2022 NHL Draft.
He was born in Austria and starred in the country's junior leagues. But in need of better competition, he signed with Rogle in Sweden in 2020.
In 2020-21, Kasper played for Rogle's teams in Sweden's under-18 and under-20 leagues, and made his debut in the Swedish Hockey League for them with one assist in 10 games.
Kasper had 11 points (seven goals, four assists) in 46 SHL games for Rogle in 2021-22, the most points by an under-18 player in the league since 2017-18 when Rasmus Dahlin had 20 points (seven goals, 13 assists) in 41 games and David Gustafsson had 12 (six goals, six assists) in 45 games.
He also was the captain for Austria at the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship.
