Championship
Samoskevich comes from a hockey family. His twin sister, Madison, played at Quinnipiac University, and his oldest sister, Melissa, helped the United States win the 2019 IIHF Women's World Championship.
Mackie followed his siblings to Shattuck St. Mary's Prep school in Minnesota, then joined Chicago of the United States Hockey League in 2018-19.
Samoskevich was fifth among USHL rookies in 2019-20 with 34 points (13 goals, 21 assists) in 47 games.
In 2020-21, he scored 37 points (13 goals, 24 assists) in 36 regular-season games and 10 points (one goal, nine assists) in eight playoff games to help Chicago win the Clark Cup as USHL champion. He led all players in assists and was tied for third in points.
Samoskevich was selected by the Florida Panthers with the No. 24 pick of the 2021 NHL Draft. He played 72 regular-season games and four Stanley Cup Playoff games in 2024-25 to help the Panthers repeat as Stanley Cup champions, which earned him a one-year contract he signed July 10.
