Logan Stankoven enjoyed a quick transition from Texas in the American Hockey League to the NHL with the Dallas Stars. He led the AHL with 57 points (24 goals, 33 assists) in 47 games when he was recalled by the Stars on Feb. 20, 2024, and had 14 points (six goals, eight assists) in 24 regular-season games to help Dallas clinch the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.

Stankoven scored twice in a 4-1 win against the Colorado Avalanche in Game 3 of the 2024 Western Conference Second Round at Ball Arena in Denver to become the fifth different rookie in Dallas/Minnesota North Stars history to score multiple goals in a Stanley Cup Playoff game, joining Joel Kiviranta (three in Game 7 of 2020 second round), Denis Gurianov (four in Game 6 of 2020 first round), Roope Hintz (two in Game 2 of 2019 second round and Game 4 of 2019 first round) and Niko Kapanen (two in Game 5 of 2003 Western Conference Semifinals).

After a strong start to his rookie season in the NHL, Stankoven was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes in the deal that sent Mikko Rantanen to the Stars on March 7, 2025. He signed an eight-year, $48 million contract with Carolina on July 1, 2025.

The Stars chose the Kamloops, British Columbia, native in the second round (No. 47) of the 2021 NHL Draft. Growing up playing in youth leagues, Stankoven gained an early fan in 8-year-old Connor Bedard, who would be his teammate for Canada's gold-medal winning teams in the 2021 IIHF World U18 Championships and the 2022 and 2023 World Junior Championships. He played for Kamloops in the Western Hockey League from 2019-23, where he had 104 points (45 goals, 59 assists) in 2021-22, and led the 2023 Memorial Cup tournament with nine points (two goals seven assists) in four games.

Stankoven had his first NHL points (one goal, one assist) against the New York Islanders on Feb. 26, his 21st birthday, and his first four-point game (two goals, two assists) against the San Jose Sharks on March 5. He had 10 points in his first 12 games, third-fastest in franchise history behind Mike Modano (nine) and Alex Chiasson (10), and scored goals in three straight games (Feb. 26-29) to become the fifth Stars rookie in five years to do so (Wyatt Johnston, five games and three games in 2022-23; Jason Robertson, three games in 2019-20; Gurianov, two three-game goal streaks in 2019-20; Hintz, three games in 2018-19).
