Coronato secured his long-term future in the NHL when he signed a seven-year, $45.5 million contract with the Calgary Flames on May 3, 2025, an average annual value of $6.5 million. The 22-year-old was in the final season of a three-year, $4.475 million contract ($1.49 million AAV) he signed with the Flames on March 26, 2023, and could have become a restricted free agent. He set NHL career highs in 2024-25 in games (77), goals (24), assists (23), points (47), plus-minus (plus-6), power-play goals (five), power-play points (17), game-winning goals (four), shots on goal (180) and average time on ice per game (17:35).
Coronato earned the nickname "Bison" from broadcasters with Chicago of the United States Hockey League because of the way he goes hard to the net in the offensive zone. After scoring 40 points (18 goals, 22 assists) in 45 games in 2019-20, Coronato led the USHL with 48 goals in 51 games in 2020-21, the most by a player in the league since Kevin Roy had 54 in 2011-12. He also finished second in the league with 85 points, first with 19 power-play goals and eight game-winning goals, and tied for first with four short-handed goals.
In the USHL playoffs, Coronato led all players with 13 points (nine goals, four assists) in eight games to help Chicago win the Clark Cup as league champion.
Because of his play, the Calgary Flames selected him with the No. 13 pick in the 2021 NHL Draft.
