Mavrik Bourque made his NHL debut for the Dallas Stars in a 3-2 loss at the Chicago Blackhawks on April 6, 2024; after showing why he was valued as a high-end prospect taken in the first round (No. 30) in the 2020 NHL Draft. He led the American Hockey League with 77 points (26 goals, 51 assists) in 71 games for Texas in 2023-24, at age 22 becoming the league's youngest scoring champion since Brandon Pirri for Rockford in 2012-13 and winning the Les Cunningham Award given to the most valuable player.

Bourque made his Stanley Cup Playoff debut in Game 6 of the 2024 Western Conference Final against the Edmonton Oilers, a 2-1 loss at Rogers Place that eliminated the Stars. He played for Shawinigan in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League and tied for the team lead with 71 points (29 goals, 42 assists) in 2019-20. His 25 goals the prior season tied for the league lead and his 54 points were tied for second.

He scored his first NHL goal in a 6-4 loss to the Florida Panthers at the 2024 NHL Global Series Finland presented by Fastenal on Nov. 2.

Bourque signed a one-year, $950,000 contract with the Stars on June 20, 2025, in lieu of becoming a restricted free agent. He had 25 points (11 goals, 14 assists) in 73 games in his second NHL season, ranking eighth among Dallas forwards in goals (11), tied for ninth in points (25) and 10th in assists (14).

The native of Plessisville, Quebec, had an assist in five games for Canada at the 2019 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and had seven points (two goals, five assists) in four games at the 2022 Memorial Cup, where Shawinigan lost the semifinals to Hamilton 4-3 in overtime.
