Holloway became the first college player selected in the 2020 NHL Draft when the Edmonton Oilers selected him in the first round (No. 14) following his freshman season at Wisconsin.
The Calgary-born forward was No. 12 among North American skaters in NHL Central Scouting's final rankings. He scored 17 points (eight goals, nine assists) in 35 games in 2019-20, with five goals in his final 10 games, and was presented with the Dr. Joseph Coyne-Joe Pavelski Most Consistent Player Award.
Holloway also was named the Canadian Junior A player of the year in 2018-19 after scoring 88 points (40 goals, 48 assists) in 53 games for Okotoks of the Alberta Junior Hockey League. He also was named league MVP.
A restricted free agent after the 2023-24 season, Holloway signed a two-year offer sheet with the St. Louis Blues on Aug. 13, and the Oilers opted not to match it.
