Though Dorofeyev already established himself with the Vegas Golden Knights once becoming a full-time NHL player, he took his game to new heights in 2025-26 that ended with a 3-0 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final.

Dorofeyev had 64 points (37 goals, 27 assists) while playing 82 games for the second consecutive season. His 20 power-play goals broke Tomas Hertl's team record set in 2024-25 and ranked second in the NHL behind Dallas Stars forward Wyatt Johnston (27), and his 30 power-play points were second in Golden Knights history to Jack Eichel's 34 also set in 2024-25. He continued to excel in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. His five goals on the man-advantage led the postseason and his four multigoal games were the most in team history.

The native of Nizhny Tagil, Russia, was selected by Vegas in the third round (No. 79) of the 2019 NHL Draft and scored 35 goals in 82 games in 2024-25 after he had 13 in 47 games in 2023-24. He led Henderson of the American Hockey League with 52 points (27 goals, 25 assists) in 2021-22 and helped Russia win silver at the 2020 U20 IIHF World Junior Championship with four points (three goals, one assist) in seven games.

Prior to Dorofeyev's arrival to North America, he played for Metallurg and Traktor in the Kontinental Hockey League. He signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Golden Knights on Jan. 25, 2021, after playing one game for Traktor and getting 17 points (eight goals, nine assists) in 36 games for Chelmet of Russia's Supreme Hockey League (VHL). He played the prior two seasons for Metallurg and Russia's junior hockey League (MHL), and had four points (three goals, one assist) in seven games to help Russia win silver at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship.
