New York's first-round pick (No. 23) in the 2019 NHL Draft had 45 points (20 goals, 25 assists) in 75 games, fourth on the Islanders in points and tied for fourth in goals during his third season in the League.
Holmstrom played four seasons with the Islanders' American Hockey League affiliate in Bridgeport, where he had 70 points (27 goals, 43 assists) in 154 games. Prior to his time in North America, he averaged more than a point per game (50 points in 49 games) in two seasons for HV71 in the SuperElit League. He also won a gold medal with Sweden at the 2018 IIHF Under-18 World Junior Championships, where he had six points (three goals, three assists) in seven games including a goal in the championship game against Russia.
