Philip Broberg began the next phase of his NHL career when he signed a two-year contract with the St. Louis Blues on Aug. 20, 2024, after the Edmonton Oilers did not match an offer sheet tendered by the Blues on Aug. 13.
He joined St. Louis after helping the Oilers to Game 7 of the 2024 Stanley Cup Final with two assists in 12 regular-season games and three points (two goals, one assist) in 10 Stanley Cup Playoff games. Edmonton's first-round pick (No. 8) in the 2019 NHL Draft had 38 points (five goals, 33 assists) in 48 regular-season games for Bakersfield of the American Hockey League in 2023-24 and an assist in two Calder Cup Playoff games.
Broberg, a native of Orebro, Sweden, has represented his country multiple times in international play and won a bronze medal at the 2020 IIHF World Junior Championship. He was named to Team Sweden's roster for the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026 and signed a six-year, $48 million contract (average annual value of $8 million) with the Blues on Jan. 10 of that year.
