Nicholas Robertson signed a one-year, $875,000 contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sept. 10, 2024, coming off a 14-goal, 27-point season in 56 games. He then signed a one-year contract worth $1.825 million Aug. 2, 2025, to avoid an arbitration hearing.

The native of Pasadena, California, was chosen by the Maple Leafs in the second round (No. 53) of the 2019 NHL Draft and signed his entry-level contract Sept. 19 of that year. He ended his junior hockey career with Ontario Hockey League career highs of 55 goals, 31 assists and 86 points in 46 games of the COVID-19 shortened 2019-20 season for Peterborough.

Robertson had 88 points (42 goals, 46 assists) in 116 OHL regular-season games and a goal and an assist in five playoff games. The younger brother of Jason Robertson, a second-round pick (No. 39) of the Dallas Stars in the 2017 NHL Draft, made his NHL debut with the Maple Leafs against the Columbus Blue Jackets in Game 1 of the best-of-5 Stanley Cup Qualifiers on Aug. 2, 2020. Nicholas was first 18-year-old to make his NHL debut in a postseason game since Jarome Iginla (18 years, 295 days) for the Calgary Flames against the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 3 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals on April 21, 1996.
