Krebs came to the Buffalo Sabres in the trade that sent Jack Eichel to the Vegas Golden Knights on Nov. 4, 2021. He signed a two-year, $2.9 million contract (average annual value of $1.45 million) with the Sabres on Sept. 17, 2024, after he had 17 points (four goals, 13 assists) in 80 games. He signed a four-year, $18 million contract ($4.5 million AAV) with Buffalo on July 13, 2026, avoiding an arbitration hearing, after setting an NHL career high of 39 points (12 goals, 27 assists) in 82 regular-season games to help the Sabres clinch a Stanley Cup Playoff berth for the first time in 14 seasons.

The native of Okotoks, Canada, was chosen by the Golden Knights in the first round (No. 17) of the 2019 NHL Draft. He helped his country win gold at the 2023 IIHF World Championship, where he had five points (one goal, four assists) in 10 games. He was named the 2021 Western Hockey League player of the year after leading it with 30 assists and 43 points in 24 games for Winnipeg.
