Moore, a forward from Thousand Oaks, California, got to come home when the Los Angeles Kings acquired him in a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Feb. 5, 2020.

After two seasons with Tri-City of the United States Hockey League, Moore played three seasons at the University of Denver before signing as a free agent with the Maple Leafs on July 26, 2016. He played the next two seasons with Toronto of the American Hockey League and was part of a Calder Cup-winning team in 2018.

Moore returned to the AHL for the start of the 2018-19 season but was called up by the Maple Leafs on Dec. 23, 2018, and made his NHL debut the same day, earning an assist against the Detroit Red Wings. He scored his first NHL goal against the Vancouver Canucks on Jan. 5, 2019.

Injuries limited Moore to 27 games and five points (three goals, two assists) with the Maple Leafs before the trade to Los Angeles. He matched those offensive totals in his first 15 games with the Kings.

Moore enjoyed a breakthrough NHL season in 2021-22 with 48 points (17 goals, 31 assists). He got his first NHL hat trick in the Kings' 3-1 win against the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place in Edmonton on Nov. 16, 2022, becoming the first California-born player to get a hat trick for a California-based NHL team.

Moore signed a five-year, $21 million contract with the Kings on Dec. 15.
