After five seasons in the Washington Capitals organization, Beck Malenstyn was traded to the Buffalo Sabres on June 29, 2024, for a second-round pick (No. 43) in the 2024 NHL Draft. He played 81 games in 2023-24, when he ranked fifth among NHL forwards in short-handed time on ice (211:32) while leading Capitals forwards in blocked shots (93) and all Capitals players in hits (241).
Malenstyn signed a two-year contract with the Sabres on July 23, 2024, and a six-year, $17.5 million contract (average annual value of $2.9167 million) with Buffalo on June 29, 2026, after leading the Sabres in hits (282) and ranking second among their forwards in blocked shots (75).
