Mason Marchment turned a breakthrough NHL season with the Florida Panthers, when he had 18 goals, 29 assists and 47 points, into a four-year, $18 million contract with the Dallas Stars on July 13, 2022.
He said new Stars coach Peter DeBoer and assistant Steve Spott made Dallas an appealing destination, citing a friendship between Spott and his father, longtime NHL defenseman Bryan Marchment.
Mason Marchment played three seasons with the Stars, helping them reach the Western Conference Final in each. He was traded to the Seattle Kraken on June 19, 2025, for a third-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft and a fourth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, and then sent to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Dec. 19.
Marchment was signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs to an American Hockey League contract in 2016 despite not playing major junior hockey until the age of 19. He signed a two-year, entry-level contract with the Maple Leafs on March 17, 2018, and was traded to the Panthers on Feb. 19, 2020. Nearly two years later, Marchment's six points (two goals, four assists) tied Olli Jokinen's Panthers record for most in one game during an 8-4 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Jan. 31, 2022. His first NHL hat trick came in a 6-2 victory against the Minnesota Wild on Feb. 18.
