Eriksson Ek, a forward born in Karlstad, Sweden, was chosen by the Minnesota Wild with the No. 20 pick in the 2015 NHL Draft.
Eriksson Ek played one season for Farjestad in the Swedish Hockey League, where his father Clas Eriksson played 13 seasons, before he was selected by the Wild. He signed a three-year contract with Minnesota on July 13, 2015, played one more season in Sweden, then came to North America and scored in his NHL debut, a 2-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils on Oct. 22, 2016. Eriksson Ek had six points (three goals, three assists) before he was reassigned to Farjestad to preserve his entry-level contract. He returned for the Wild's final five games of the season.
Eriksson Ek played 75 games for the Wild in 2017-18, finishing with 16 points (six goals, 10 assists). After scoring on opening night against the Detroit Red Wings, he went 50 games without a goal until scoring in a 5-3 win against the New York Islanders on Feb. 19, 2018. He had NHL career highs in goals, assists and points in 2019-20.
Eriksson Ek scored his 100th NHL goal in his 435th game, a power-play goal at 12:27 of the third period in a 3-2 loss to the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center on Nov. 10, 2023, becoming the 11th Wild skater to reach the milestone. He had six points (three goals, three assists) to help Minnesota set a team record for most goals in a game by defeating the Vancouver Canucks 10-7 at Xcel Energy Center on Feb. 19, 2024, when the Wild scored six goals in a span of 5:45.
Eriksson Ek was named to Sweden's roster for the 4 Nations Face-Off and Team Sweden for the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. He scored four goals in an 8-7 win against the San Jose Sharks on April 9 to join Marian Gaborik (five goals, Dec. 20, 2007) as the second Wild player with at least four in one game.
His brother, Olle Eriksson Ek, was a fifth-round pick (No. 153) by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2017 NHL Draft.
