Championship
Roy got the chance to establish himself as an NHL player with the Vegas Golden Knights in 2019-20.
The Carolina Hurricanes selected Roy in the fourth round (No. 96) of the 2015 NHL Draft. He continued his developed with Chicoutimi of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, where his 48 goals led the league in 2015-16.
In 2016-17 he was a QMJHL First-Team All-Star and helped Canada finish second at the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Roy started his professional career with Charlotte of the American Hockey League in 2017-18 and helped Charlotte win the Calder Cup in 2018-19.
He made his NHL debut with the Hurricanes against the Tampa Bay Lightning on April 7, 2018, then played six games the following season.
The Hurricanes traded Roy to the Golden Knights on June 27, 2019. He scored his first NHL goal against the Anaheim Ducks on Oct. 27, 2019, and split the season between Vegas and Chicago of the American Hockey League, finishing with 10 points (five goals, five assists) in 28 NHL games and 22 points (seven goals, 15 assists) in 27 AHL games.
Roy signed a five-year, $15 million contract with the Golden Knights as a restricted free agent Aug. 8, 2022, after he set NHL career highs in goals (15), assists (24) and points (39) in 78 games. He helped Vegas win the Stanley Cup in 2023 and was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs on July 1, 2025. He played his 400th NHL game Dec. 20, 2025, and was sent to the Colorado Avalanche on March 5, 2026.
