The Vancouver Canucks had to wait nearly two seasons for Boeser, a right wing who was their first-round pick (No. 23) in the 2015 NHL Draft. The native of Burnsville, Minnesota, more than repaid their patience.

Boeser gave the Canucks and their fans a taste of his skill by scoring four goals in nine games with Vancouver in 2016-17. He signed his first NHL contract March 25 after playing two seasons at the University of North Dakota, then scored later that day in Vancouver's 4-2 win at the Minnesota Wild.

But that was just a warmup for his first full NHL season. Boeser scored two goals in his first three games, then became the first Vancouver rookie since Trevor Linden on Dec. 20, 1990 to have a hat trick when he scored three goals in a 4-2 win against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Nov. 4. Longtime captain Henrik Sedin said Boeser was the best pure finisher he'd seen on the Canucks since coming to Vancouver in 2000.

Boeser was named the NHL's Rookie of the Month in November, when he led all players with 11 goals, and again in December, when he scored eight goals and 13 points in 13 games. He said his personal goal was to score 20 goals as a rookie. He hit that threshold two days before Christmas and scored 25 goals in his first 44 NHL games, 11 games faster than Hockey Hall of Famer Pavel Bure.

Boeser signed a three-year contract to stay with the Canucks on Sept. 16, 2019. He scored his third NHL hat trick in a 5-3 win against the Los Angeles Kings on Oct. 30 and 45 points (16 goals, 29 assists) in 56 games before a rib injury sustained against the Calgary Flames on Feb. 8. He returned to play the New York Islanders on March 10, two days before the season was paused due to concerns surrounding the coronavirus.

Boeser scored four goals for the first time in his NHL career to help the Canucks defeat the Edmonton Oilers 8-1 to begin the 2023-24 season. His four goals tied a record for the most by a Canucks player in a season opener (Greg Adams on Oct. 8, 1987; Rick Blight on Oct. 6, 1976).

He signed a seven-year, $50.75 million contract with the Canucks on July 1, 2025.
