Scherbak had six points (four goals, two assists) in 26 games for the Montreal Canadiens last season, missing six weeks because of knee surgery on Oct. 30, 2017. He had 30 points (seven goals, 23 assists) in 26 games with Laval of the American Hockey League.
Scherback was selected by the Canadiens in the first round (No. 26) in the 2014 NHL Draft after he had 78 points (28 goals, 50 assists) in 65 games for Saskatoon of the Western Hockey League.
He made his NHL debut Jan. 7, 2017 and scored a power-play goal on his first shot in a 5-3 win against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
After playing in the 2014 Canadian Hockey League Top Prospects game, Scherbak played for Everett of the WHL in 2014-15 and had 82 points (27 goals, 55 assists) in 65 games.
