Brickley can play all three forward positions. He had 12 points (four goals, eight assists) in 44 games in 2017-18, his second NHL season.
The Florida Panthers selected Brickley in the second round (No. 50) of the 2010 NHL Draft. He played four seasons at the University of Vermont, scoring the game-winning goal against Massachusetts in the first round of the 2014 Hockey East Tournament and helping Vermont qualify for the NCAA Tournament. He also played for the United States at the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship.
Brickley signed a two-year contract with the Panthers on April 21, 2014, and was assigned to San Antonio of the American Hockey League. He had 47 points (22 goals, 25 assists) for San Antonio in 2014-15 before being promoted to the Panthers for the 2015-16 season.
He made his NHL debut on Oct. 10, 2015, and scored his first NHL goal three nights later against the Carolina Hurricanes. However, in 23 games with the Panthers, he had five points (one goal, four assists) before being sent to Portland, the Panthers' new AHL affiliate. He was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes on Oct. 11, 2016.
Brickley had 26 points (15 goals, 11 assists) in 69 games with Carolina's AHL affiliate in Charlotte in 2016-17. He was selected by the Las Vegas Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft, but became an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2017, and returned to the Panthers on a one-year contract.
He is cousins with Andy Brickley, a TV analyst for the Boston Bruins and a former NHL player, as well as Los Angeles Kings prospect Daniel Brickley.
