A towering presence in goal, the 6-foot-4, 187-pound Lack has been nicknamed "The Stork" by his teammates, a reference to his long legs and height.
A native of Norrtalje, Sweden, Lack is the grandson of Hans Wilhelmsson, a speed skater who fell one-tenth of a second short of winning a bronze medal in the 500 meters at the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley.
Signed as an undrafted free agent by the Vancouver Canucks on April 6, 2010, Lack began a two-season run that produced a 49-41-7 record and 2.28 goals-against average while playing for Manitoba and Chicago in the American Hockey League.
Lack missed the majority of the 2012-13 season after undergoing hip surgery but he bounced back well in 2013-14, moving up to the NHL and setting a Canucks record for most shutouts by a rookie with four. He finished the season with a 16-17-5 record, a 2.41 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage.
In 2014-15, Lack had an 18-13-4 record, 2.45 GAA and .921 save percentage, but he was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes during the 2015 NHL Draft.
