Selected by the Buffalo Sabres in the second round (No. 46) of the 2006 NHL Draft, Enroth has become a reliable, and well-traveled, backup goaltender.
Before playing in the NHL, Enroth led the Swedish Elite League in save percentage (.932) and goals-against average (2.13) in 2007-08. He then spent much of the next three seasons with Portland, the Sabres' American Hockey League affiliate.
Enroth made his NHL debut on Nov. 7, 2009, against the Boston Bruins, his only League appearance that season. He got his first NHL victory Nov. 6, 2010, against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Enroth largely played sparingly behind starter Ryan Miller, one of the NHL's elite goaltenders, though he did make the NHL All-Rookie Team in 2011-12 after going 8-11-14 with a 2.70 GAA and a .917 save percentage in 26 games. After Miller was traded to the St. Louis Blues on Feb. 28, 2014, Enroth became the starter, but he was traded to the Dallas Stars on Feb. 11, 2015, for Anders Lindback and a 2016 conditional third-round draft pick.
At season's end he signed a free agent contract with the Los Angeles Kings on July 1, 2015, to back up Jonathan Quick. He had a 2.17 GAA in 16 games for the Kings in 2015-16 and signed as a free agent with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Aug. 22, 2016.
Enroth did thrive on a starting role at the 2013 World Championship, where he helped Sweden become the first host country to win gold in the event since the Soviet Union in 1986. He had a 1.15 GAA and .956 save percentage and was named the tournament's top goalie.
