Daniel Sedin made history with the Vancouver Canucks on Jan. 21, 2016. Lurking at the post to the left of Boston Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask, Sedin scored on the rebound of a Christopher Tanev shot at 7:03 of the third period at TD Garden for the 347th goal of his NHL career, moving him past Markus Naslund for the most in Canucks history.

He and twin brother Henrik Sedin concluded their NHL careers on April 7, 2018. Daniel finished his last season with 55 points (23 goals, 32 assists), giving him 1,041 points (393 goals, 648 assists) in 1,306 NHL games.

The Sedins were honored at the 2018 NHL Awards with the King Clancy Memorial Trophy, recognizing their leadership qualities on and off the ice and their humanitarian contributions in their community. They and their spouses made a $1.5 million donation to the BC Children's Hospital Foundation in 2010 to help build a children's hospital and expand existing medical services. They also have helped the Canucks for Kids Fund raise $42 million since 2000-01, advocated for the literacy promotion programs of the Canucks Family Education Centre, and supported the SPCA.

Daniel's No. 22 and Henrik's No. 33 were retired by the Canucks on Feb. 12, 2020.

The Canucks made a series of trades to acquire the No. 2 pick in the 1999 NHL Draft to go with their selection at No. 3, which they used to take Daniel and Henrik.

The twins were born in Ornskoldsvik, Sweden, six minutes apart (Daniel is younger) and they played for MoDo, where they shared Swedish Elite League player of the year honors in 1998-99.

Daniel's North American odyssey began with a 20-goal rookie season with the Canucks in 2000-01, but didn't really take hold until 2006-2007, when he scored 36 goals.

The 2010-11 season was one of great achievements for Daniel. He finished with 104 points (41 goals, 63 assists) to win the Art Ross Trophy as the NHL's top scorer. Although Anaheim Ducks forward Corey Perry won the Hart Trophy as the League's most valuable player, Sedin was afforded the ultimate recognition by his peers when he received the Ted Lindsay Award as the players' choice for MVP. He also was named to the NHL First All-Star Team.

Daniel's regular-season brilliance carried into the Stanley Cup Playoffs, where his 20 points helped the Canucks to the Stanley Cup Final, where they lost to the Bruins in seven games.

He reached 1,000 points in his NHL career with three against the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena on Nov. 30, 2017, becoming the 87th player in NHL history to attain that milestone.
