Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame
Championship
Walker has a unique Stanley Cup championship resume, one that may never be matched.
Posthumously inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1960, 10 years after he died, the Ontario native won the Stanley Cup three times with three different teams in three different leagues.
Walker, a renowned defensive forward, won it in 1914 with the Toronto Blueshirts of the National Hockey Association, in 1917 with the Seattle Metropolitans of the Pacific Coast Hockey Association (the first U.S.-based team to win the Cup), and in 1925 with the Victoria Cougars of the Western Canada Hockey League (the last non-NHL team to win the Cup).
Walker turned pro with the Blueshirts in 1912-13 but played one game before going to Moncton to play in the Maritime Professional Hockey League. He scored 21 goals in 15 games with Moncton.
He returned to Toronto for the 1913-14 season and had 36 points (20 goals, 16 assists) in 20 games before helping the Blueshirts win the Stanley Cup.
After one more season with Toronto, Walker would spend the next nine with Seattle and scored 26 points (11 goals, 15 assists) in 24 games when they won the Cup in 1916-17.
Signed by Victoria as a free agent on Nov. 10, 1924, Walker had 31 points (16 goals, 15 assists) in two seasons with them including seven goals in 28 games in in 1924-25 to help them win the Cup.
Walker was traded to the Detroit Cougars of the NHL on May 15, 1926 and scored 13 points (five goals, eight assists) in 84 games over two seasons before returning to Seattle to play in the PCHL for three more seasons from 1928-31.
Walker, who is known for bringing the hook check to the sport (a low sweep with the stick to knock the puck away from the opponent), retired in 1931 and spent part of his post-playing career teaching the technique as a coach on the West Coast, eventually settling in Seattle.
He died at the age of 61 on Feb. 16, 1950.
