Jack Darragh, an Ottawa native, played six NHL seasons for his hometown Ottawa Senators. A left-handed shot who played right wing, Darragh had 117 points (68 goals, 49 assists) in 121 regular-season games and 15 points (13 goals, two assists) in 21 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Darragh's efforts helped the Senators win the Stanley Cup three times in four seasons (1920, 1921, 1923). He scored five goals in five games during Ottawa's run to the championship in 1920, then another five in seven games the following season.
He scored both goals for the Senators in Game 5 of the 1921 Cup Final against the Vancouver Millionaires to clinch their second straight championship. Darragh nearly missed that series; Ottawa mayor Frank H. Plant had to convince Darragh's other employer, Ottawa Dairy Company, for time off so he could play.
Darragh retired after the 1920-21 season, but after sitting out a year he returned for the 1922-23 season. He scored 19 points (seven goals, 12 assists) in 24 games for Ottawa, which again won the Stanley Cup.
Darragh was limited to 18 games in 1923-24 with what was believed to be a stomach virus. He died June 28, 1924, due to peritonitis. He was 33 years old.
Darragh was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame posthumously in 1962.
