Status report
Gibson will start after missing the third period of a 5-2 win at the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday. “He’s fine,” Red Wings coach Todd McLellan said. “He had something in his eye. The doctor got it out right after the game.” … McLellan said he might make some changes to his lineup after warmups. ... The Flames are expected to dress the same lineup they used in a 2-1 win against the Minnesota Wild on Thursday. … Backlund wore a noncontact jersey during Calgary's morning skate; the forward will miss his second straight game. … Huberdeau also was also on the ice in a noncontact jersey; the forward has yet to play this season after having hip refacing surgery in March.
